Micheál Cotter, late of Seafield Road Killiney and a Probus member since 2017 passed away on 20 April 2019 at the age of 69. A native of Bandon, Micheál spent his career with AIB Bank - initially in Schull and Tralee and then in Dublin where his focus was internal audit and the investigation of fraud.

Micheál described his career as a bank auditor in a Probus talk in December 2017; a career which culminated in the Revenue Commissioners imposing a tax settlement plus penalties on four former top-level executives of the Bank for their interest, while employed by AIB, arising from investments in Faldor Limited - an investment company set up in British Virgin Islands that between 1989 and 2006 held funds on behalf of these individuals and others connected to them.

Aside from Probus, Micheál enjoyed varied interests including hill-walking, gardening and genealogy. He was a meals-on-wheels volunteer in Dun Laoghaire and had been a long-standing committee member and Treasurer of Comhaltas Cultúrlann na hÉireann, Monkstown. He also greatly enjoyed visiting southern France.
